New layout!

After nearly 4 years, this blog has a new look!

The theme took a little longer to finish but we finally updated the design to this blog. There were so many considerations when it comes to redesigning, we are trying to make this blog as accessible as possible.

We designed the overall layout first before jumping into coding the theme. First, we made two different designs on Figma. The first iteration was a design that mimics the Tumblr dashboard layout and the second one is the modern layout we designed for the other version.

After so many considerations, we decided to choose the first iteration because people are more familiar with how the Tumblr dashboard look (and thought that the experimental design one is not for everyone).

After designing the mockup for the main theme, it's time to design how the navigation look. This one was tricky because we tried to make the design as accessible and clear as possible.

A responsive all-in-one theme that includes the option to hide the about, navigation and/or blogroll sections!

Features:

Day and night button that will stay in the selected mode until it is turned off. A dark mode option is also available for those who prefer a dark color scheme on their blogs instead of the default light color scheme. When you toggle the option on, the day and night mode button will change according to the scheme you are using.
Left or right sidebar. Both layouts are responsive to ensure its usability on multiple screens and mobile.

THEME 3: Newsprint

A simplistic, text-oriented theme inspired by newspapers.

Usage

Saving asks and answers is done passively. Open your outbox by clicking on the addon icon in the browser toolbar.

On Firefox, it is possible to save asks sent on blogs with custom domains (e.g. https://www.davidslog.com/ask) by granting "Access your data for all web sites" in the extension's permissions.
